She was part of the drama school club when she was 7 years old. Mende wanted to be a doctor but discovered when she was 11 that she liked the theatre more. In 2006, Mhende moved to Capetown, South Africa to study at AFDA, the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance. She entered Cape Town’s theatre when she played a role as Lady Capulet in a 2010 Artscape production of “Romeo and Juliet”. Her theatre training then extended to Drama Therapy. She was born and raised in Zimbabwe and moved to Cape Town, South Africa, in 2006 to study at AFDA, where she graduated with a BA in Live Performance.
