Sarah Dilys OutenMBE FRGS (born 26 May ) is a British athlete and adventurer. She is also a motivational speaker in the UK and internationally. Outen was the first woman and the youngest person to row solo across the Indian Ocean and also the Pacific Ocean from Japan to Alaska. She completed a round-the-world journey, mostly under her own power, by rowing boat, bicycle and kayak, on 3 November

[edit]After an eleven-day failed attempt which she dubbed her 'Warm Up Lap',[2] Outen set out again from Fremantle, Western Australia, on 1 April in her 19ft boat called Serendipity. She rowed for days, 14 hours and 9 minutes before arriving at Bois des Amourettes, on the island of Mauritius, on 3 August She was the first woman to attempt the crossing single-handedly, and only the fourth person to ever complete a solo crossing.[3] She was also the youngest person and the first woman to row alone across the Indian Ocean.[4]

BIOGRAPHY
Sarah Outen is an adventurer by land and sea, bestselling author and motivational speaker.
On 1 April , she set off in her kayak from Tower Bridge for France. It was the start of her London2London:Via the World expedition an attempt to circle the globe entirely under her own steam by cycling, kayaking and rowing across Europe, Asia, the Pacific, North America, the Atlantic and eventually home.
A year later, Sarah was plucked from the Pacific ocean amid tropical storm Mawar, her boat broken, her spirit even more so. But that wasn’t the end. Despite ill health and depression, giving up was not an option. So Sarah set off once more to finish what she had started, becoming the first woman to row solo from Japan to Alaska, as well as the first woman to row the mid-Pacific from West to East. She kayaked the treacherous Aleutian chain and cycled North America, before setting out on the Atlantic, despite the risk of another row-ending storm. She finally completed the expedition in , after years. The experience became the basis for her book, Dare To Do (), which was shortlisted for the Wanderlust Adventure Travel Book of the Year
